"Éalú" (Irish for "escape") is a fully stop-motion animated point-and-click puzzle/adventure game developed by Benjamin Orr and "Tomcat Disposables" animator Ivan Owen of Beyond the Bark, inspired in part by the song and video. The game features music composed, performed, and recorded entirely by Will Wood, taking melodies from "Tomcat Disposables" and reimagining them intertwined with new tunes and experimental instrumentation. The original soundtrack releases October 4th, and will be Will's first new studio release since "In case I make it," (the album where "Tomcat Disposables" first appeared) in 2022.
This non-traditional take on traditional PC gaming rewards patience and concentration, while punishing a doom-scrolling mindset, and is for players who enjoy unique visual atmospheres, challenging brain teasers, the art of animation, classic early video games, and Will Wood's creative work. It is available on Steam now.
My heart's already been stolen... delightful and somewhat unsettling, like a cross between Myst and Wallace and Gromit—cozy, but also lonely, with flashes of something sinister here and there... Beyond the Bark is cooking with a really special, singular atmosphere."
